It is an interactive program between citizens and the police designed to make citizens aware of their police department, regulations, and the Criminal Justice system. This program allows citizens and police to meet and interact in a positive and proactive setting sharing ideas and information.
The Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to build trust and understanding between the community and local law enforcement. Through interactive classes, hands-on demonstrations, and open dialogue, residents gain a behind-the-scenes look at police operations, policies, and daily challenges.
The goal is to educate citizens, foster mutual respect, and create stronger partnerships that enhance public safety and the quality of life in Argyle. Graduates of the program often continue to serve their community through the Argyle Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA), supporting special events, volunteer programs, and initiatives that benefit both the police department and the community.
There is no charge for anyone to attend, however, you must be 18 years of age to attend. All handouts, workbooks, and supplies will be furnished.
The only involvement you will have is a commitment on your part to attend the classes.
The Citizen's Police Academy is 10 weeks long. You are required to attend 8 classes to graduate.
The Police Department currently holds one class in the Fall each year.
To enroll in the Citizen's Police Academy, you need to complete and return an application. Applications are available at the Argyle Police Department, 609 Dallas Drive, Argyle.
